Default muffler bypass/sport button

I have read the threads on disconnecting the muffler bypass valve and have done this to see how it sounds. My question is this. To get the different computer mapping that the sport mode is supposed to provide below 4k rpm, doesn't the sport button still need to be on, even though it no longer controls the bypass valves?

Dan I think you have to have the button on to have the maps become effective

That would make sense, but I haven't seen anyone mention this aspect of the whole discussion. The thread started as a way to impove the sound of the relatively quiet exhaust note.

That is a correct statement. The button controls the mapping and the flaps with 2 separate wires.
