Has anyone had this happen? I was driving at about 110. Lifted and my front right tire went flat instantly. Took the wheel and tire in to the shop and they discovered that the bead delaminated for about an 8 inch strip. Made for an interesting day.

It would be interested in seeing a pic if you can get one. I can't imagine what could do that once the tire is mounted, unless extreme heat or loading on the sidewall. I bet the most likely damage was done when the tire was mounted unless it just had a defect at manufacture.

It appears that the tire failure was due to a manufacturers defect or damage during mounting. Does anyone know what signs to look for that would indicate that there is a manufacturer's defect or that the tire was damaged during mounting? It is scary to think that the tier could fail without any visible damage or warning.

There's no such thing as manufacturer's defects. This may sound arrogant, but I have sold tires for 8 years or so, and I have seen 1 manufacturer's defect that whole time. They usually get caught in the process. Michelin may warranty it just to take care of you, but I very much doubt it was a defect.

the only thing I saw was after the fact. The sidewall had a dimple that look about 6 X3. Do not know if it was there before. I am going to have the other tire looked at and rebalanced just to make sure.

picked up the car. Tire replaced at N/C. No signs of external damage or impact. Just a torn bead. They took pictures and are sending them along to Tire Rack.
