those guys are hacks. they have never been involved in any racing as far as I can tell, and they do not explain how this contraption is "Assembled directly onto your exisitng Porsche gearbox". Scary.

You only need to remember one word if you want a sequential:

Ricardo.

Dear Jeff,

The system was developed in conjunction with Porsche Motorsport for 996 Cup Cars; therefore it is a fantastic and very high quality system.

As part of the kit there is a unit that fits to the side of your existing Porsche gearbox which controls the movements on the box. You can fit a taller shift unit like the one in our 997 GT3 or keep the existing Porsche gear shifter and use it as a sequential. Also comes with a gear number indicator for the dash. It is a very effective system which is strong and reliable. Gearshifts are much quicker, plus no more shifting mistakes i.e. 5th to 2nd!

It canbe used on all Porsche 6speed i.e 997, 996, Cayman, Boxster, Cayenne GTS (manual) etc.

The system is £3950 + tax and shipping. If you decide to buy the system then please fit it and try it. If you are not happy with it then please return it complete and we will give you a full refund.

Personally the system is so amazing and you just can’t help but play with it, like being in a race car! We have limited numbers at the moment as it is proving popular for 996 Cup Cars and RS models.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed?

Best Wishes,
Michael.

Michael Wilson

Not to be confused with a sequential gearbox!!

This is a sequential "shifter" , the difference with a normal one is the fact that you shift up and down only instead of H pattern, you still use your clutch just the same as the stock system. This electromagnetic shifter has been around for 5+ years now in Germany and has been improved to having the actuator fitted on the transmission itself. They are indeed reliable and a good upgrade, as long as one knows its limitations and does not think that he has a sequential gearbox.

True that a couple of amateur teams have used it in a few races here and there, but no one can claim that this is race proven, especially on a Porsche, or that it has been developped in conjunction with Porsche.

The weak link here are the synchros, ideally you need to upgrade your synchros to use this system comfortably and not worry..

Michael, the price is a bit on the high side though, not long ago, before I ended up purchasing my Ricardo sequential gearbox ( db_GT3, you are right!! ) I could get this system from the manufacturer for around $7k.

A great and fun street upgrade though...

You would be better off (and faster) spending your 8000+ USD on a set of genuine cupcar gears, R&P, and LSD from motorsport. After installing this thing you will probably be into it for another 2-4K, at which point you should really consider just going for the Ricardo; a true no-lift sequential which has been exhaustively tested and qualified for ALMS and is proven in that racing arena.

"The system was developed in conjunction with Porsche Motorsport for 996 Cup Cars; therefore it is a fantastic and very high quality system."

Who at motorsport did you develop this with?

Who has performed any testing whatsoever on this product? If it were PMS, you would be able to state that this is the case.

As far as the quality, reliability, and feasability of your conversion for a non-sequential GT3 transaxle to a semi-sequential (I am assuming you will need to lift on all shifts), I don't think you guys are offering anything in terms of information regarding how you have tested or simulated the product in a racing setting.

You guys are all about B.S.

Ricardo is all about engineering knowledge and results.

Ricardo is the way to go, period.

Edit: Jean, I had no idea a Ricardo unit was so inexpensive; it is actually less than this bolt on contraption? I thought it was 30K! If it was it would still be worth every penny! You would have to be a complete tool to go with anything other than Ricardo.

While I agree with the rest of your comments, I must tell you that the Ricardo cost 40k Euros. The GT3 Cup sequential gearbox is 32k Euros new. These systems are not comparable. of course.

Cheers
