Almost as bad as when a friend of mine totaled his CGT the first day...

I don't know of anything inferior in current model Ferraris compared to Porsches, but for sure that passenger compartment remained completely intact. If the occupants were properly belted in place, you'd have to imagine they had a good chance of escaping alive.

I think the design of the mid-engine Ferrari models is much less safe than the 911's. Too many of them end up catching fire in accidents. Don't know which genius thought it was a good idea to put the fuel cells directly above the exhaust manifolds...

I can't recall the last time I heard of a 911 catching fire in an accident (or otherwise, for that matter) and there are zillions of 911s on the road.

I wasn't thinking of the fire safety aspect of the mid-engine cars and yes, the 360 is infamous for burning up, but for the most part, I've seen photos of them burning for no good reason.

I've seen more than one 911 go up in flames and there are some intrinsic issues with oil cooling lines and hot brake rotors and exhausts etc.

Still, again, I'd rather be in a well prepped 911, for many reasons.

pretty sure most new porsches that catch fire are from grass combusting (off road excursion) on contact with super hot exhaust piping...ferraris catch on fire from the inside with the gas tank/fuel line situation being too close and on top of the exhaust. guessing the ferrari events are more unavoidable...

either way it would suck- but you're way better off now than in an old car.

I was thinking of you when I first viewed these pics....these guys on the boards should be allowed to get a peek at what you have done with the numerous mangled Cup cars you have brought back to life...they wouldn't believe it...can you post up some of those pics??
