I've swapped the battery and didn't lose the radio code.

Maybe that is why i can't find it. On my 996tt that radio had a battery code that if you unhooked the battery you had to reprogram in a code. I looked in the manual the only warning I could find about unhooking the battery related to resetting the window to adjust them when you close the door so they go to the top.

When I swapped the battery I had the windows lowered all the way and then did the re-learn process once the new battery was installed.

I think it has to do with the fact that we no longer have radios that can be stolen out of the car. it is all part of the comm management. You can not separate the radio from the rest of functions.

The dealership basically wouldn't give it to me when I picked up my car. They said call w/ the VIN# if I really needed it. I think that's crap, but I just wanted to get in my car and drive. I figured I could always get that figured out later, as necessary.
