Question Opinion Poll for Metro NY Porsche Shops

I recently aquired a 997 GT3 and I am wondering what you guys think would be the best place to get some modifications done to it. Mostly basic modifications such as alignment and safety devices; cage, harnesses, and new seats. I have read through many of the previous posts and there seems to be quite a bit of conflicting opinions so I figured I would list a few of the shops and take a poll. Any other additions or comments would be appreciated as well!

Thanks

I can't speak for New York Metro, but can say that I hear lots of good things about Hairy Dog garage in Oxford, CT (about 1.5 hours from GW bridge, up 684 and then over on 84). They are experts on setting up GT3s for the track. Even though I live in Utah, I am looking at bringing my 3 to them next fall/winter for shock revalving and some other mods. That also gives me an excuse to get up to Lime Rock

Oh yeah - and Farnbacher Loles in Danbury needs to be on the list as well.

Good luck.

I live in Upstate NY and will drive 3 hours to Dan Jacob's Hairy Dog Grrrage to get my car serviced. He owns, in my opinion, the most trustworthy shop in the NE (I've been burned by another). Good luck!!!

Another plug for Dan Jacobs - great guy, great service - he fixed my turbo after another shop (on your list) screwed it up.

Would you mind saying which shop? PM if you think that's necessary.

Legend Autorama in Amityville on Long Island. One mechanic in particular, Guy Manzari, is the best you can find anywhere. He is very methodical, and has an OUTSTANDING understanding of these cars. I trust him 100% to take care of my cars, and have no doubts of his ability to keep me safe in terms of the car's preparation on the track. The parts shop is great as well, they can get anything you need.

Been using them 7 years now, and will not switch...

Not mentioned in the poll but Princeton Porsche is pretty good and gaining a following amongst track bound enthusisasts. I'm one happy customer there.

You can also add Fairfield County MotorSports to the list. I give another +1 for Dan Jacobs. Farnbacher Loles has a Very, Very impressive shop.

Clearly, I am biased; but Rick DeMan's shop in Nyack is the ONLY shop that will ever do work on my cars...he made my race cars winners in PCA...for all of us racers who retain him for our racing needs he, along with Spencer *** ,make for an unbeateable team and their knowledge in building race cars, setting up, maintaining , supporting, coaching, data aquisition interpretation and racing and above all else; WINNING in PCA, SVRA, HSR, NASA....is un-matched...period. (care for any pics of the shop?)

TKX or Rick DeMan. Taso at tkx does all my stuff, he's the tech advisor for metropca, great work, great prices. But if I was racing again I would probably use DeMan, I think tkx mostly does DE/street type stuff(very well).

I have no idea about your other shops, but if I lived within a reasonable drive of Farnbacher, I can't imagine taking a car anywhere else.

Farnbacher was a place to go before Spencer left them and joined forces with Rick....Taso's TKX is a good shop for DE set-ups as well and great at aftermarket tuning on just about anything with wheels
