The people that actually own the cars want market value and he has to add his "take" on top which sends his asking price through the roof.
If one doesn't care for his prices, then show him by shopping elsewhere.

i cant speak to a lot of the stuff that guys are taking issue with related to his prices, what he's asking/offering for the cars... unlike guys like RPM he doesnt own all the inventory on his site or in his warehouses, but he does own some. he does though have good and longstanding relationships with many clients.
half the battle for a buyer is sometimes finding liquidity, finding those tough to find cars. in that area, i think he is as good as any. u have to know your market, and what you're getting into. you have to 100% do a thoroguh PPI because as you would know reading this thread, its not his car usually. if it were, he would be more likely to have gone thru it beyond thoroughly and with excruciating detail. if its a consignment, there is more chance of subtle little issues which a PPI should bring out.
i've read some people hitting sloan every once and a while. all i can say is that i've done about 1/2 dozen deals with him, and on all of them he was a true gentleman, helped me sell 2 cars at , lets just call it VERY favorable pricing, honored his agency, commission figure to which we agreed before getting going, and has always said "whatever you need help with, i'm there to help". granted, i know the situation and any car i might buy gets thoroughly PPi'd, but ilike it that way. but outside that, i'd say that i really like him and really appreciate some fo the help he's given me even if a car or so that i;' reviewed ddnt pass muster.
anyway, thats my take.

The problem is .......... Sloan does NOT own the majority of the cars on his site. These are cars that belong to outside owners which he represents as his own. He is a broker (as well as a dealer) which is why his prices are so high.
