Default tire/wheel report

many stated that their tires ROTATE on the rims and causing inbalance.

in my latest set of R888 on C14's, i mounted it like how it was done before (no sticky gel, hair spray etc) and i marked the wheel vs. tire position. they do rotate relative to one another, as much as 1/2 the circumference. however, my RS exhibited no vibrations that an inbalanced wheel would exhibit. i did swap wheels left/right to see if i can feel the vibration, but NO.

this is true on street or on track from 0mph to 140 mph????

Will porsche do a recall? I have seen many spins/blowouts is the car overpowering the stock tire/wheel setup?

MPSC do not spin on stock wheels as far as I know. MPSC are the only tires I have not been able to spin on my rims, not even on the CCW. Span: R888 315 and 305, Hoosiers 315.

do you get severe vibration once the tire spun on the wheels?

With Hoosiers or 305 R888 no. Did not run the r888 305 very long because did not like the tire at high speed. My r888 315 were poorly shaved and were shaking like crazy. Tried hair spray... still shaking. Stopped using this tire because of this.

I did! But once I had them dry mounted I had almost no tire spin with the r888s. stisseront and I noticed they spun less on the anodized (black) rims, than non. Your getting that much tire rotation on your black ccws?

Mooty, you still running these tires? Doing well? I'm going to go ahead and change my RA1's out...somehow got a nail in my rear??!! Not worth taking a chance on a patch. I'm seeing 150's and up on the straight at RRR now.

I get tire spin with Hoosiers (H6) on CCW 14's but no vibration or problems that I can notice.

I get it a lot on autocrosses. No vibrations at all.

Heck, this happens in NASCAR and they just live with it.

I've seen regular street Michelins spin on 996 Turbos with stock wheels when used on track. I suspected it was under braking.

No vibration whatsoever resulted. So one must wonder: is it the wheel that's really being balanced? Or at least mostly the wheel?

A good 1pc forged wheel should balance to zero by itself. On my GP7/Champions the wheel weights simply offset the TPMS sensors

Ive never had a problem with the stock size Michelins on my GT3. When this potential problem surfaced, I marked my tires/wheels and they are still aligned. My guess is the non-factory approved tire sizes/compounds are causing the problems.

Hmmmmm, gotta have a set then. Roebling has a long turn 9 (right before the straight) and you can get very good exit speeds if you do it right. It also has a very unforgiving inside wall. I hit a good exit speed about 1 out of 8 times. You can get in the high 140's easy with an RS or GT3. I would hit 130's with my 996 911. Cups are hitting 165+. Before the track alignment, I stayed in the 140's. After the alignment, my hard braking rear (car rear) wiggle went away. BUT, the alignment gave me the set up and nads to get better exit speeds on 9 and the wiggle came back when I got in the 150's. Maybe the R888's will help. I think it could be a spring issue. We still get a little nose dive with the RS suspension and it lightens the rear end enough to get it at times. I may lower it a little more also. Who has the best deal on the sizes I need in the R888's?
