Duh, haha, that's exactly it. So I was trying to compare the same amount of air and fuel in the same volume, one at a low temperature and pressure, the other at a higher temperature and pressure. I believe that allegretto is right when he says that it doesn't matter much because it get so much hotter. So why is it more efficient? Because colder air is less likely to detonate and so they can bump the compression with the colder air. And we all know that bumps efficiency. That's gotta be it, right?
