Decals were fine in the 1970s. Not today. Simpler, less complicated. Decals SHOUT too much. Keep it understated.

I think people do not like decals because that is the exclusive domain of the RS. They seem to be feeling that you are trying to be a wannabe ? Personally, I like the decals. It is a speed yellow Gt3, not a subdued vehicle. Myself, I have thought about yellow on yellow stickers for a slightly stealthy sticker version. After all stickers are just a look. you can remove them whenever you are bored.

If it were me I would leave it without the decals, but if I had to pick one I would chose the GT3 logo to the rear.

not sure how accurate this is. but i was told by a dealer that by 2008 you can order decals (like RS) on any porsches as a factory option. can someone confirm this?

That is correct. If you use the configurator on Porsches web site the side decals is now an option for GT3.

Are the Porsche decals long (wide) enough that you actually have a choice of centered on the door or mounted more to the rear?
