Will 997 GT3 production end soon?

If Porsche is losing money on US sales, then the solution is that US prices must rise. Doesn't seem to be a problem as people are already paying 25% premiums (for the RS anyway).

I heard that the majority of the allocations left for MY'08 (late '07 builds) would be sent to other more profitable markets in Asia and the ME. I would bet my shirt that the successor to the current car will arrive in the US with a significant price increase, because like you said, it appears the market is willing to pay it. It might be easier though to phase in the price increase with the advent of a new model or at least a significant facelift. Of course, I dont have any facts to back my theory up, so please take it with a grain of salt.

Slightly OT, but, Did I get this right about the new seats?
• Lighter
• Allows access to rear seats......for use with roll cage (no rear seat)!
If you plan to use proper harneses & a Cage, why not get the fixed buckets? If you have a back seat and wont be using harnesses why get the new ones, as the sport seats fold nicely?
Am I missing something here? (harnesses with no cage?, cool CF? Racy "look"?)

look at current price gap b/n GT3 and 2.
also look at delta b/n 997S and 997GT3, 10-15k only.
so why not boost GT3 price another 20-30k to base of 130
so loaded 997S = 100
striped GT3 = 130
RS 150
GT3 = 190
of course, i am conjecturing as well.

Very few cars arrive here; only 2 RS's in UAE (Dubai) and certainly 2 here in Oman.

I'm in Holland and the story is the same. I can't get in a new order anymore beacuse the production will end at the end of the year. The word from the dealer is the '07 GT3 does not meet the new EU emission regulations that will go in effect in '08 onwards. Not sure whether that is the only reason.
There is only one new GT3 (white, CS with PCCB) at a dealer in the entire country. I'm trying to decide between that or a low mileage 996 GT2 CS (at less than half of its original sticker price). Have to decide by next week.

That may explain why there are only about 20% of the expected allocation here now? I would imagine though all dealers had commitments form PCNA by July.

I heard the same from the sales manager at my local dealer. It makes sense for porsche to shift available product to emerging markets. Porsche is increasing their presence in those markets (good for the long term) especially since the lower dollar means lower profits on sales in the US.

Andreas Preuninger is said to be working on GT3 developments, but the timescale is likely to be similar to 996GT3 Mk1>Mk2
Porsche have a lot of new products and 987/997 facelifts to launch beforehand.
