Default cold start problems ...

My car has been sitting idle in the garage for about a month and I cant get the damn thing to start, the engine turns over, catches, but then dies, also there is quite a lot of white smoke associated (probably just oil lying in the sump).

anyone got any ideas why it wont start? (and yes there is gas in the tank)

thanks

- Larry

Battery? Porsche has a Tequipment trickle charger which they recommend if the car sits more than 3 days. A month seems like a long time to sit.

nope not the battery the engine turns over perfectly well, ad nauseum in fact, it just wont 'ignite' ... it's almost as if not gas was getting injected or it was'nt being ignited!

I don't doubt what you are saying or hearing, but I was told the GT3 requires "a lot of juice" to turn over. If it was me, I would call and have it taken to the dealer.

problem seems to have gone away ... it may have been a combination of low fuel and airlock in system

thanks

I'm going to hire myself out as a Certified Tech. Just threaten to take it to the dealer and all is well. Happy it didn't turn out to be a problem.

Re-igniting an old thread.

I've noticed in recent days that if the car is cold (not freezing, but just not hot) as if it's sat overnight, or for 2 days, it takes about 2-3 seconds for the car to start. A hot engine starts up right away, but a cold one takes an uncomfortable amount of time (few seconds). Just as the poster above said, like it won't ignite.

How long does it take your car to start if you don't drive it for a few days?
