Default New GT2-pass

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My local dealer just called to tell me that their incoming GT2 will sell at market(msrp+50k). As a repeat customer, I was offered msrp +$45k. I had the number one spot, but will be passing since they indicated msrp at the time of deposit 18months ago. Just a head's up for those interested. Clowns.

My dealer quoted me the same "frequent buyer" discount. I passed too.

Once these bozos alienate enough good customers they'll probably come around. Be sure the dealership owner hears from you.

I am sure the owner is well aware. If you were quotes MSRP some time ago doesn't your sales order say that if so you have a contact?

PCNA frowns pretty heavily on its dealers doing this....

Other than having the honor of being first on one's block with a depreciating "asset", why would one want to pay over MSRP? Several weeks ago there was a segment on 60 Minutes about Doctors Without Borders, http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org -- why would not one instead give the $45K to them to save lifes rather than to a temporary vehicle. Owning a GT2 might make one a big man (and then only for a moment), saving lifes makes one a great one.

Hey Nelson,

Save yourself the headache and the cash and do what I did (this is a response to a post on 6Speed):

Believe it or not, I was turning similar times at Road Atlanta in the Evo IX as compared to my former GT2 (approximately 1:35's according to Hank Cohn who was running with me in the instructor group and had a Traqmate in his track prepared 996 GT3)! I think I was a little more willing to drive it on the ragged edge compared to the GT2...which would have been a little more expensive to crash. The Evo is the BEST bang for the buck and a ton of fun...ask Al Norton, he went out with me for several laps.

2006 Evo IX: $30,000
AMS 50 Trim Turbo Kit used: $3400
AMS Intercooler and Piping: $650
GSC Stage 1 Cams: $600
ARP Headstuds: $200
ACT HD Street Clutch: $525
Cobb Exhaust: $625
Megan Track Coilovers w/ Camber Plates: $875
Whiteline Roll-Center Correction Kit: $265
Performance Friction Rotors (stock diameter): $650
Performance Friction PF-01 Pads front: $275
AMS Brake Ducting Kit used: $250
Stainless Brake Lines: $160
Castrol SRF Brake Fluid: $75
Redline Fluids in Trans, TC, Rear end: $50
BF Goodrich R1 255/40-17: $1100
Tuning @ Topspeed: $300 MS109 Unleaded=481 AWHP, 93 Pump=401 AWHP
Alignment: $125 (-4 Camber 0 Toe Front, -1.5 Camber 0 Toe Rear)

LOL, maybe you better learn to drive a little...................AWD is for total noobs on the track and with just a basic alignment/tires the 996 GT2 will rip your EVO a new a hole and then some with a skilled driver. Flash, turbo's RS suspension pieces etc puts it in another zipcode entirely no matter how much the EVO is modified.

BTW, have plenty of set time in EVO's, so no hating here just re arranging some facts.

Now if you are talking about the 997 GT2 then I sincerely question your state of mind if you believe the Mits provides a similar driving experience............

Default GT2

Hey Cleve,

Good to hear from you and not a bad idea. I actually found and bought a nice 03 GT2(black GT700 same as yours) since we last spoke and I'll probably hold on to it for a while -at least until I find a new one appropriately priced. It's all about the fun after all and it's no fun paying up the nose for a car that will drop a ton over the next year or two. I just may pick up an EVO or something similar for grins.

PCNA does not give a **** what the dealer gouges you. GT3RS proved that.

All the dealers are doing this now. Very sad. It's drawing some customers away from Porsche, even the die hard ones.
