Default Front spoiler question

My white 07' GT3 got here and I was a bit surprised that the front lip is white instead of the standard black color I've seen in all other pics, including the ones in this forum.

Is this an option or an early car thing or what?

And as far as parts, if one wanted to order a new lip, or other OEM equipment such as a leather shifter, what is a good source?

Thanks in advance!

P.s.: while I am at it, also noticed that at speed the alcantara headliner just goes nuts with the wind and flaps. I closed the sunroof it still wavers quite a bit. Is this normal or a problem waiting to happen?

The white lip must be a dealer installed option. Did you check your dealer invoice? I personally prefer the black as it gives it some separation and since most standard 997s w/ aero kit have the lip painted, it will differentiate you from a standard 997.

I heard Sunset Porsche has the best prices on lip ($114) and OEM parts.

You got time to look at your headliner at speeds? LOL. I take it this is on the track with the mandatory open windows? Be interested to also hear what others have to say. Haven't really noticed on mine, but then again, at 100+, my eyes are elsewhere

The headliner flap is NOT normal. I've driven at triple digit speeds with the roof open with no flapping.

The painted lip (spoiler) is a $595 option. Mine came with a red painted one which I quickly destroyed with normal driving.

Ouch. You'd be lucky not to thrash the thing the first time you drove it. It might make sense to just switch it right away as the white will look particularly bad when scraped and the black shows through.

You can purchase a black one from the dealer for about $140. Also, I think the GT# Cup spoiler looks better. It is lower and bigger than the one you have but it fits perfectly into the bumper. I ordered two from FVD, www.fvd.us. at $140 each. This is a good site and they have good stuff for reasonable prices. You will need an extra anyway if you drive much on the street

Thanks, great to hear that the spoilers are inexpensive - I want a black one anyway, agree that it breaks the lines nicely.

I can definitely see the headliner flap although it seems well attached... guess is not normal then so I'll bring it up to the dealer on my next visit.

Another one: a couple of seconds after starting the car I hear a single brief, loud, sharp metalic sound, maybe from the tranny area. Happens maybe 1 out of every 5 starts. Any thoughts on this one?

I've got the same sound. Dealer doesn't know what it is.

WHen you start these cars on a cold start there are all kinds of mettallic noises. Its has no oil,
then as it gets lubed up in 1-2 seconds the noises go away.
if the car is warm it doesnt make that noise at all.
colder the start the noisier it is. Normal ---did this on my 996 GT3 too.

Just checked and the local dealer wants more than $280 for it. Do you know if the FVD one is a Porsche part or an aftermarket one? If aftermarket how does it compare to the real one?

And any other recommendations for general Porsche OEM parts?

Thanks in advance!

As I posted earlier in this thread, Sunset Porsche has it for $114. Or Pelican has it for $134.
