Question Help! Keep getting "Failure oil level indicator" display

I just got my GT3 4 days ago and haven't had much time to drive. I have about 90 miles on the beast and wanted to check the oil level as outlined in the manual (why don't these cars have a simple dipstick?).

It won't measure oil level and instead I keep getting "Failure oil level indicator" message on the on-board computer display.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kevin

Sounds like you have a malfunction -- not user error. A dealer will have to sort it out.

Yes, the lack of a simple dipstick in a Porsche is inexcusable. It's BMW-esque...

Not sure of build date but VIN 3172. Oil pressure and temp are normal per the gauges and there is no "check engine oil level/engine oil pressure too low" idiot light that should illuminate for these scenarios.

I suspect a software problem but it's now too late to contact the dealer for advice. Thanks for responses so far.

Tubescreamer as in Ibanez? If I could only have one pedal that would be it.

Thanks to all who responded. Turned out to be a defective oil level sender. Since I line in the boonies the car had to ride a flatbed on 9/24 to the nearest dealer (approx. 100 miles away).

I picked up the car on 9/30 and all is well. At first I was informed that the part had to be special ordered from Germany which would take at least a week in transit. Fortunately I was later told that the necessary item was on an earlier parts shipment. Hopefully this info may help if anyone out there has a similar problem.
