Default 2008 RS option cosmetic option changes

New options for 2008

CLE - Trim strip switch panel in alcantara
CLG- Storage lid in alcantara with Porsche logo & stitching
CNE - Spoiler lip painted
* CRY – Wheels in deviated color
* CNL – Deviating side stripes & logo
CNR – Rear wing ends deviating color
CNZ – Side mirrors deviating color
XAJ- Rocker panels painted body color
XXF – Red tail lights

Here are the option changes for the 08 RS I assume these * are only for white cars.

I am considering the taillights & console cover. Anyone have photos of the trim strip in alcantara or spoiler/ rockers painted? Thinking may look better in black on an orange car much less maintenance.

I was aware of some of these options at the time I ordered. I'd pass on the rockers being painted. They will likely chip easily and I think the standard black looks better anyway. I would have ordered CLG if I had known. However, it is likely easy enough to buy a new one and have it installed. As for the trim strip in alcantara, go to the German configurator. It is available there, not on the US version unfortunately.

I just now notice that the rockers are different on the RS vs. the 3. The 3 is painted and extends as one piece. The RS looks like it can be replaced?

I wouldn't go for the painted rockers. On the turbos, they've had the option to paint them for some time now and if you look at a turbo with painted rockers, it looks like there are three different materials stacked on top of each other: the door, the painted body piece under the door and then the rocker. By having the rocker black, the door and the body piece under the door look more cohesive and less busy.

Let me tell you from EXPERIENCE the rocker on the base is part of the body. I dropped mine off
the jack and 600 bucks later instead of buying a new one which you cant do you get to pay for body shop repair. They guy I took it to, was good and he was so intimidated by the car he wouldnt let anybody work on it but himself. he did a great job though.
So yes the RS and GT3 rockers are different.

all right, all of you are only 1/2 right.
here is it.
RS and GT3 DO NOT have similar rockers.
on GT3, like old guy said, the rocker is part of the body.
on RS, it's black plastic that's clipped on. i know b/c i have ripped it off many many many times. it's replaceable but aint cheap. it's more than just a rocker. glue your face on the pavement and look up, the rocker becomes a large part of the undertray.

finally, i dont care if you track or not, if you got more than 5000 miles on the car at speed, the rocker will get road rash. i had that on my 996gt3 and the current RS BEFORE i ever got the thing on track. painting the rockers is like painting the front chin spoiler. cool, but you got to keep painting them every other day.

A assume it will be avail. parts can now order 08 parts. If you look on line at the german/great britan configurator it shows the console cover.

It does not have the "crest" logo but the word "Porsche" in the proper font.

XXF was available last year when I ordered mine in about March or April.

It's the thin piece that runs along the middle of the dash were the cup holders are, standard in aluminum.

Option in leather, paint, carbon and now alcantara.

It's too bad Porsche doesn't have a handling package option for the RS.

Also I note that there is no soundproofing material delete option.
