Default GT3 Turbo

If you are going to buy a GT2 ($200+K) and then modify it (turbo, intercooler,etc....) isn`t it better/cheaper to start with a GT3 and put lower compression pistons, larger intercoolers and turbos, etc.......????
If so, what company can do such modifications properly?
How much rwhp and rwtq can be expected?
Thanks.

It would be much, much cheaper to start with a TT and change out suspension components than to R&R the powertrain/ecu of the Gt3. The turbo cars have different cooling circuits and also no less than 9 oil pumps for the motor & turbos.

The GT3 is not the best platform to start with for a Turbo car, thats why the GT2 exists.

As eclou said, if you want a turbo RWD, start with the GT2, or just get a Turbo and turn it into RWD.

If you go to the 996 generation, it is even easier and cheaper, GT2 prices are in the mid to low 100ks and turbos even cheaper. plus the tuning/conversion technology has been there for years and is proven.

I think starting with the 993TT version is also an interesting proposition. They have a standard rear LSD and no PASM to confuse things, while the 996 almost always has an open rear diff (pretty lousy to have one-wheel-drive, once you remove the front drivetrain) and PSM will freak out too.

Also the 993GT2 is a very rare and expensive model, so making a clone may make it worth more than a 996GT2 clone...

You would be ruining the best motor on the planet. It would be akin to to taking my Breitling and changing the parts to make it a Seiko.
Eclou is correct The TT is a perfect platform for modding-You can change the suspension, get MONSTER HP out of the motor-Just do all kinds of things you can go anywhere with that car in terms of design. The GT3 is a focused machine for one thing-to change that IS blasphemy.
