Default putting 3M bra on the RS...

should I do the whole hood or 1/2 ?...this car will see limited track use as I have the RSR for that: so it will be an aggressive street car for my purposes...and I want to maintain the finish as best as possible. Is the whole condom needed or just the front end and rockers? What have you guys done?

I think just 1/2 the hood is needed, but I also recommend the whole nose, mirrors, and behind each wheel...

I suggest whole hood. I have the 1/2 hood and I have 5 stone marks on the top half. I dont know how that happened and it didnt happen that way on the 6 GT3 with half. and I havent even got to the track yet.

I was able to find the Home Depot bra. Its unobtrusive hardly noticeable (at nite on a mexico blue car) and very protective. Not too expensive and easily replaceable
Although this specific application was for a 996 I think there is a 997 version available.

Do the full hood...almost seamless, looks nicer and more protection. I did the whole front bumper and front fenders (all seamless) too.

I'm sure there are some good installers near you but if you need the name of the guy who did mine just PM me.

Cheers!

That's me with the entire car except the doors. But my car is a track *****, and my last GT3 had chips everywhere I did not have the bra. The other problem is the seams, and having the entire front done, including the fenders hide the bra very well since they can wrap the edges around the fenders (I even took the headlights out before they arrived. The bad thing about the bra is the appearance of orange peel compared to the areas where there is no bra.

I recommend the entire front end, from the windshield forward, the mirrors, and the lights. Also, the rocker panels and the 1" edge of the fenders inside the wheel wells.

kind of hard to justify bra-ing it, but will the rear wing on the RS pick up any random stones? maybe it's just on TT's that the wing gets some chips.

I have the half hood job on my TT but will get the full hood done on the gt3- it's just more seamless
