I know of a couple other people that were denied gulf blue on their GT3s.

Could be that they are not doing paint to sample at all or just won't do this colour.

So Porsche can strip a 73 911 down to the frame and restore it completely but the ability to use light colored non-metallic paints is somehow beyond its scope of expertise. Interesting. I would think this would be a most embarrassing shortcoming to them, if it were really true

I agree, what I find the most interesting is that they'll do white, yellow, red and other blues (Riviera and Mexico)...Also Ford can do it but PAG can't

Have you thought about having it repainted after? The rarity of it alone wouldn't be difficult to sell if you would be worried about resale.

In 993s this type of Blue was in deed called Mexico Blue. Very cool color, slightly darker than the original Gulf Blue but still very cool.

I understand the original Gulf Color Code Blue would be more cool and it is posibble to get that color for a 7 GT3 but you have to have really good connections with Stuttgart.

Well of course!

That's why I personally wouldn't want Gulf Blue color if it didn't have the (Orange & Dark blue/Black) stripes also.
Original Gulf Blue just as a plain color (as in the pic you posted) is too light, Mexico or Riviera Blue on the other hand is very nice.

I tried to do the same thing when I specced my car. Nada, we tried hard, but no dice. I do like the white (see pics on my thread - just picked it up yesterday).
