What Brand Paint does Porsche use-Robin??
I have a small scratch on the bottom of my rocker panel I want fixed
and my body shop guy wants to use the base paint Porsche uses. Any idea of what
brand they use? He said if he could get it he would match it.
other wise he is gonna paint code it with PPG

PPG supplies PAG currently, Glasurit does the classic colours for 356s etc. So technically both companies supply.
The modern paint process is very impressive and quite environmentally friendly (compared with what went before).

Paint choice is a nightmare.
Imagine going into the studio to specify your car and you have over 9,000 colours to choose from.
First question to ask is do you live in a sunny or an overcast place. A lot of the darker colours which are a knock out beside a sunny beach are terrible on a dull northern winter's day. That midnight blue with a hint of elctro violet is wasted in those circumstances.
And then you do the interior, wher its not just colours (tone on tone or contrasting, material, leather, suede, how much carbon, aluminiumj, chrome, paint, leather, stitching, piping) all at the same time as you decide on easy items like wheels, mirror profiles and rain sensing. The first time I went through it, it took me six weeks, now I know better and just go to the factory and just do it all in a day, this is best because there is a good chance you will see the colour you want and the interior trims in various cars and can choose with confidence.
Its very noticable that by the time people are on the sixth Pcar they are less keen on black with a black interior, and that they keep the special cars longer - to be honest you have to, the premium you pay for having them all built to order is excessive, although PAG is cheaper than Audi when it comes to special orders.
