Don't you guys get detected by the cops themselves for having V1's etc? I believe our cops have some sort of way of telling that we have a detector on board and if we get caught, well even more trouble. Maybe it's just an urban myth spread by the force to instill fear into us? Seems to work. Need to get an undetectable jammer!

I've got a V-1 and it's never elevated whatever trouble I've gotten myself into, which isn't often when I have it on!

I just bought a V1 a couple months ago.

I was VERY reluctant due to the fact that the last Radar Detectors I had were from "back in the day" and all they did was alert me to when I was driving in front of a Radio Shack and make me excessively paranoid !!

V1: BEST purchase I've made in quite a while ! It's already paid for it's self.

(not justifying speeding here, but it only takes 2 times at 10 to 15 over the limit...)

Mike took me for a few laps at Mid-Ohio in his CGT a while back, he's a HOOT !

I haven't really researched Laser Jammers, but I'm interested in learning. The V1 has definitely picked up a few Lasers !!! -good thing I was mixed up in traffic !

Search the numerous other threads on V1 and K40 Calibre.

There was a recent thread bashing K40 and the vendor posted a response but didn't follow up (yet) with any facts or independent comparisons, reviews or the like.

Personally, my most recent experience was to get blipped by a laser (the V1 squealed) doing 80 in a 65 (on Hwy 80 near the 505 interchange ... most of the traffic was flowing at about 80, so it's not as if I was burning rubber.) Strangely the cop chose to get going and pace me rather than pull me over and make the easy kill. Fortunately, a second later, someone passed me, so the cop chose them (I really appreciate the selfless act of taking the fall for me ...)

Active jammers are illegal and if you get caught they can impound your car. Passive jammers are not illegal-the only problem is making a passive jammer I havent figured out a practical one yet. I have figured out a theoritical one-but its not practical. A round metal disk that has a larger radar cross seciton than your car mounted on your dash and spinning a certain frequency would register what ever speed you chose to dial in by manipulating the doppler But you can see the impracticality.
A disk of up to 12 inches in diameter spinning in the 10 KHz range on your dash would be dangerous
for one and how the hell do you motor something up like that. Nice fan though.
Laser Jammers I dont believe are illegal because the FCC doesnt regulate that frequency.
One thing I noticed about the laser on your V1 is that a car with HIDs tailgating you can set it off.
The reason you got popped for laser is the officer has to point it directly at you as a target and its instantaneous. Any Laser dector that goes off is too late anyways V1 Ecsort or what ever. your only hope is that he is pointing it at someone else and you pick it up.
Mike Valentine states that on his web site. The POP radar is the one that can be fought becuase it works by over stimulating its clock chip beyond its calibration limits for a short burst. So it can be
argued that its inaccurate.
