Default Mostly OT: Trailers, Car Haulers

I am looking for a car hauler and was wondering if anyone out there had any good or bad things to say about Featherlite or trailerworld.com? What else do people use out there? I was thinking about an 18' beaver tail trailer with a tire rack and tool box for my GT3.

Aluminum enclosed car haulers tow better (lower weight) and have much higher resale value. A V nose helps with towing (wind resistance) and provides additional storage up in the nose.

Often discussed brands are ATC (pretty much the Cadillac of enclosed car haulers IMHO), Featherlite and Thule/Cargopro.

The sky is the limit, as you can pretty much do/add anything to today's trailers with respect to walls, floors, electrical, cabinets, etc.

An 18' is about as small as you would want to go (unless it's a V nose, which adds about 4-5'), 20' is a more popular size.

I've been happy with my ATC and would recommend one.

Cabcar:
+1 on quality resale etc. cant go wrong with Featherlite, I dearly loved mine. The problem is the bad guys seem to know this as well. So if you go that route make sure you have a secure site to store it in. I thought mine was locked down but it was gone in 60-seconds. Replacement is steel Pace which is nice but required new tow vehicle (Ford MY08 F350-D).

Lastly walk around the pits and look at how some have sorted the inside of the trailer. Lots of approaches all very personal.

I went through 3 trailers until I finally got one I liked. Many good ones but I ended up with a 24' V nose Featherlite. Pulls great and nicely made even though it does not have the bells and whistles of many. Lot's of quality in things like the wiring. FWIW, the Featherlites aren't really Featherlite. Mine only weighs about 400lbs less than a like size Pace. I wouldn't buy less than a 20' and even that is tight with tires and all of the track paraphanalia. 24' with the V ended up being the Goldilocks size for me. It doesn't weight that much more than a shorter one.

Only thing I would add so far would be get at least a 20' trailer. You will be VERY unhappy with an 18' and have minimal storage room and have to play tongue weight olympics.

I have a 24' Millenium with a Vee nose and am very happy. It was trimmed out at the factory with alot of bells & whistles that actually comE in handy although the rest of the guys I run with want me to put in a satelite TV to watch the SPEED channel while we're at the track

Boulder, what are you using to tow your trailer? I have a Lexus LX470 and am considering a 24 ATC Featherlite or Pace aluminum.

Dell is using a Cayenne to pull a 20 ft which may be a better size for me with my low torque Lexus.
My car is a GT3 that would be transported.
Appreciate any recommendations. Dell has been great help.

An '08 F350 diesel. I'm a big believer in having too much truck and trailer. The only other thing to keep in mind is that I'm in Colorado and most of my towing is through the mountains at high altitudes in the warmest weather.

Default ATC Great experience

I looked at many trailers for about a year at various events and decided on the ATC 24' for my GT3 and gear. After having it for one year; I ordered a new ATC 24' V nose will more goodies in it, i.e. tire rack, jack rack, helmet rack, door rack, remote electric awning, alum ext. ramps, nitrogen tank holders with plumbed lines with quick disconnects, etc.
ATC looks modern, is extremely well built with great attention to detail, will customize to "the sky's the limit".
I purchase mine through Rezner Trailers in OK, and pick up at the factory in IN. I actually learned of Bob Rezner through this forum when I first was looking.
