Having heard and seen pictures of the lack of clearance up front, is it (easily) possible to remove the lower portion and then re-install for track purposes?

Coupla reasons why it's not a good idea.
- The bumper itself has a lip that extends down from the seam b/t the lip and bumper. That lip looks terrible w/o the spoiler in place.
- The spoiler acts as a sacficial component; you don't want to be dragging the exposed bumper lip around town.
50 miles on my car during my initial driving on Saturday, I mis judged an entrance and scraped the crap out of the spoiloer. After your first mishap, it's no biggie.

So, does every driveway have to be taken at an angle?? No straight in approaches?

It would have to be a pretty damn flat driveway. I have to take mine at an angle. No biggie, just have to take it slow, that's all.
So far no problem with speedbumps at all taken straight on. Again, have to go slow. I'm sure the people around me scream obscenities at me b/c I'm holding them up, but if convenient, I pull over and let the Tahoes and Range Rovers by. Seems like that's what all the Cougars around here drive.

I've now driven mine to work (downtown Philadelphia) for several weeks with, to my surprise, no drama whatever. I've had a few very gentle scrapes but that includes steep driveways and a basement parking garage. The only hard hit was in a high speed corner with a big dip in the middle - that caused a pretty loud bang. Fortunately, my dealer had pre-scraped my splitter for me, owes me a new one, and I'll just wait until this one wears down to a nub and then replace it. It looks better with the leading edge a little fuzzy.

I put the RS extension on the front of the chin and it's even rolled down and picked up scratches on the front of it. I don't hit driveways/curbs, just transitions on the road.
ps. Whoever buys my car ... a new chin and RS extension is included ... : )
