Coming from 13 years in a 3.2 Carrera with a dual-outlet B&B system that had a 95dB resonance at 3K rpm, I think my GT3 sounds absolutely stunning! And the ability to have it make beautiful noises on command while still stayimg quiet at cruise is priceless. I wouldn't change a thing!

I heard the stock exhaust and a modified exhaust on the 997 GT3 today.

FabSpeed did a great job on the sound with the 997 GT3, I really liked the sound coming out of the prototype exhaust. The twin tips are very aggressive, big polished steel.

The stock 997 GT3 sounds exactly like the stock 996 GT3 with the cat bypass pipes, a little bit deeper, but not the expected sound based on the feedback from plenty of new GT3 owners. The engine sounds the same.

Help!
taking delivery of a RS tomorrow....what is the concensus of disconnecting the Exhaust Sound Valve?
In Sport mode , does the exhaust quiet during a RPM range, then kick in?
What is the best way to disable the switch?
thanks for your thoughts!

Have the dealer program it for always on Sport mode. This applies only to the exhaust note and does not switch the throttle to Sport. The latter you activate by hitting the Sport button.

I don't think there is much to be gained by disconnecting the switch. I had my d/c for a few weeks and put it back. With it off, there is some drone at 2000-3500 rpm that's annoying. Stock in sport mode, it opens at idle to 2000, then closes until 3800 rpm, then open the rest of the way to redline. Most leave it as is.

If you want to d/c, you just remove one plug on the right side of the engine bay, behind the rubber hoses. Here is a picture, credit to another kind gent here on the boards whos name escapes me at the moment.

I get my Riviera Blue car in a few weeks, will listen and then probably order something from Cargraphic.
I tried Cargraphic bypass pipes on my 996 GT3 but they were just too much for day to day use.

Hey remember to post pics of you RB GT3, I am looking forward to see it.

Thanks.

If one were to bypass the cats, would there be any mods required so that the ECU is "fooled" ie. no warning lights, no mixture/ignition timing issues?
