RS's in '08...anyone have confirmation?
My salesman told me yesterday that Porsche has told their dealers that the RS will be produced in '08 and will be available in the US. Does anyone have confirmation from anywhere else?

No more past this run. My dealer said he was just told that if a car like mine that has a July build and it does not leave the factory till after August then it will be a 2008 but no more RS for the us.

I've heard that there planning to use the 3.8L engine for possibly the GT3. They've been having problems with it in the Cup cars so they have to get the bugs out first. This was from a Cup guy

However, if you are referring to the RSR, that does use the 3.8 litre engine. It is a capable engine that won the Nurburgring 24 hour race last year. It would be interesting to hear what problems have been experienced.
With reference to 08 allocations, I am still waiting for definitive confirmation from my dealer here in England. However, they are "reasonably hopeful" that more cars will be built and shipped from September 2007 (ie, start of 2008 model year) onwards. I live in hope.
Kind regards
Steve

I'm not buying the "maybe a few will trickle into 2008" theories. If the car is going to be certified for US sale in MY2008, they'll continue to build cars to meet demand. Otherwise the run will end with MY2007.
Yes, other models in the past have sold in small quantities for the final year of production, but in those cases the factory turned the spigot off due to lack of demand.

We know Justin. You don't want Porsche to produce any more RS's, you say it in every post you make. Just curious, whats the deal. Would it really kill you if 20 or 30 true enthusiasts have the opportunity to order the car? What is your stake in it any way. Why does it bother you so much.

I'm with Justin on this one; exclusivity within the Porsche name is one of the larger reasons that I am buying one...does everything necessarily have to be overproduced to satisfy the masses? I like having relatively unique things in general.
