but from what you mentioned, it seems that bra is necessary for this car.

I must be confused about the location of the chips /lack of factory protection. The RS that I drove this afternoon had "thick" clear protection (from the factory) on the rear fenders just in front of the rear wheels, very similar to that which was on my 993TT. This was a white RS with no RS script/decal on the side -- could this possibly explain the difference...??

Yes, there is clear factory film, but I have some chips beyond the plastic. My pics are at work. I'll post tomorrow.
