i'm serious about getting an RS, but not about to pay 9.5k over, much less 20k!
if i don't get one . . . i guess i'll have to get something else![/QUOTE]

I hope one day I see the logic in not paying a premium for a Porsche when we all pay premium everyday for what we want. I want the first new Caterpillar D 9 HRG then I pay the dealership to get the Dozer to work and I get what I want and move forward. I am sure I am paying more % of my money for the car than a lot of the other people on this site just by looking at the garage list. I just want this car because I do. And If I wanted one then I would pay over if I did not have a MSRP spot. Really I would have to see cash and a lot of it for me to sell if I would. I know everyone has a price and I guess I do however on this one I will hold.

Yeah not bad at all. I might be low on my prediction a month ago https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...6&postcount=29

Still beyond belief that someone's about to commit to $160K+ for one of these, exclusivity sells.

FWIW.. the only Ebay precedent that I'm aware of for a pre-delivery (non-RS)997 GT3-- 2800 views, one bidder - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...5502657&rd=1,1

I hope the day after this eBay auction ends PAG announces they're gonna make another batch of RS in 2008. And another batch in 2009.

Exactly! If it sells, keep making it.

The RS won't be a huge seller. The car isn't much different from the GT3 and the price difference is huge.
The fact that cars are being sold with premiums at auctions is more a testament to the US/CDN $ pricing. The CDN RS goes for $145,000 US, vs $126, 000 in the US. Canada is only getting a few RS's, so any CDN bidder would bid on a US RS up to $145,000US, $20,000 premium.

My point is just b/c RS are going for premiums doesn't really mean demand is strong enough to sell/build more cars.

A CDN car with similar options would be priced at almost $190,000 Cdn or $161,000 US. So $138,000 plus the 20k is $158,000.
If a Canadian really wants the RS he will be willing to spend the $20K premium, b/c as specced it is roughly the price of the car in CDN dollars EVEN with the 20K premium.
To bring it to Canada he would have to spend a few bucks on spedometer and some other stuff, but if he wants if enough, its worth it to him. To an American it wouldnt be.
But bottomline the premiums do make sense to Canadians who couldnt get cars.

If I had a penny for every time I've seen speculation 'confirmed' regarding a Porsche product on this forum, I'd have a down payment on a new RS right now.
