'07 verses '08 GT3 RS
It looks like I am going to be get an RS allocation from my local dealer. I might get the choice of taking his final '07 or getting his only '08 slot. He tells me that there will be no difference between the cars. I do know that there is an '08 facelift coming on the 997. I don't know if that will impact the RS? I'm trying to decide what to do? Any one hear about any difference between the model years?

are you sure you have 08RS?
even if there will be RS in 2008 (which i am not certain), the dealer shoud not know about that allocation this far in advance.
something is fishy here.
perhaps colm, mjspeed, or mjone will chime in soon.

Are you just taking the dealers word for this or do you have some "inside info"? I was on the phone with PCNA this friday asking if there will be an RS for 08 and got no answer. My dealer has been trying to find out for weeks. Any info is appreciated.
Rich
by the way, if you want an RS, I would not gamble, unless you know for sure there will be an 08.

My information says that even the July and August builds will be 2007. My information says that no 2008 RS will be built. The GT 2 will be a 2008 with the updates. Everyone who is on this bandwagon for 2008 wants a car. If I were them I world lock up a GT 2. The next RS you will see will be when the 998 RSR will be introduced in a few years. 2010. The first time I heard of the RS was in a article talking about the holomogation of the RSR with the RS.

i wouldnt automatically consider an RS buyer to be a gt2 buyer.
also wouldnt take dealer info for anything more than it is . . . dealer info.
it's not official porsche info unless they can show you something in writing from pag or pcna.

similar info related to me regarding the Aug and July 007 builds as well. As such, I am number 1 for the RSR if and when it comes out at my dealer. (who wants to buy my slot?)
I agree w/ Jeff on the RS buyers not being GT2 drivers....the cars are completely different animals.

My info comes from a personal friend who happens to be the GM of the Porsche dealer. He only had two RS slots (of course already taken) when I asked him if he could help me find an RS. I had a GT3 on order and decided that I really wanted the RS or possibly a Ferrari 430. He called me on Friday and told me that he got an extra allocation and it looks like it will be an "08. He said that someone who had the '07 allocation might want the '08 but I would be getting one of them. I'm not sure where he is getting his information. I will find out.

if the 08 has 3.8L, no one will buy 07.
anything short of that, why would anyone wait? one month late, is 2k less miles of enjoyment for me. i want one YESTERDAY.

If a 2008 is made ready then it will be something to watch how many people trade the 2007 slot for the 2008. And the GT 2 buyer is yoiur right different sorry to imply.
