Magazines obviously are always little biased (when was the last time the really critisized new models?) so it's always good to hear from "real" people.
Same thing when they (Magazines) use race car drivers for comparisons, i.e. Johannes Van Overbeck's comparison between 996 GT2 & 1973 911RS few years back was great. Not only becauise he can drive better than writers but also because he isn't so much inclined to say good things.

ps. Expect to see more from Excellence doing comparo's with Johannes as the hot shoe -- that boy can steer! (And I think he might be with TRG this season?)
pps. FF -- I emailed those pics, did they arrive? Two emails, both close to 10MB.

As for race circuit specs, these are the ones in the manual, correct? Do they include ride height information?
Here is what was posted earlier, didn't see ride height info.

Carrera GT,
Excellent write-up! Thanks for sharing. Johannes is a principal of Flying Lizard Motorsports. He won't be switching teams. The Lizards took delivery of their RSR a few weeks ago - there are some great pics on their website. They also signed Jorg Bergmeister to team with Johannes. Henzler switched to Tafel and Petersen switched to Ferrari.

Hey Carrera GT....1:38 at Laguna in a street GT3 with cups is very good....I would say that you are very close to a track record there as far as street GT3's go. You need a new career as a racecar driver.

Just re-read GT's substantive posts. I must say I'm very impressed with the quality of his review, particularly his measured and even handed treatment of both cars.
Too often, people have an axe to gind, in justifying why their car is better, is a better value, or whatever. A refreshing read on a useful A/B comparison.
Cheers.

CarreraGt,
Just joining the chorus in thanking you for a nice review. I've been thinking about a 997GT3 since I sold the 996GT3 and your thoughts help.
I was also impressed with your 1:38 at Laguna in the 996GT3 before the track was resurfaced. Can you also share your times at other tracks with the 996GT3, particularly Willow Springs, Buttonwillow and Cal Speedway.
Thanks

Anyway, thanks for the kind words. It's been great fun comparing the two.
