MPSC will get killed in summer due to heat cycles. 30-40 driving days on good weather and highway miles, and they will be toast.

I think it's wise to save the MPSC to commute to the track, run the track and come back, then swap to nice 18"-19"-20" wheels and street tires (PS2).
That's a really interesting comment on MPSC not handling high temps very well. Here in Dubai, we get 95+ degrees from mid May until October! Looks like I need to get myself some PS2s for the road, as I do not have an unlimited tire budget!

Is there any disadvantage - other than decreased performance - in running PS2s on a daily basis?

Just a correction, MPSCs will handle high temps very well. But repeated use heat cycles them until they become as grippy as glass sneakers. But, I suppose the revised MPSC on the new GT3 better withstand heat cycles than standard Rcomps.

So, how long would you guys say MPSCs will last on very good quality roads and fairly agressive driving style?

agreed.
for me, the first 10 laps is great, then it slips off. if i back off foro a lap 2-3 miles in length, the grip returns.

I'd estimate 3-5,000 miles, with no track use, for the rears.

Fronts, probably twice as long.

That's a lot less than what I had in mind! Wow! Thanks for the info.

I guess I better order PS2s and have them installed directly by the dealer prior to delivery, then. Or run the MPSCs until they are shot and then switch to PS2s.

That's only a guestimate, based on your comment of 'a fairly aggressive driving style'.

Actual wear rates should become more evident in the coming months.

MPSC Wear Rating = 80

MPS2 Wear Rating = 220

Average mileage on MPS2 is about 7000 miles.

Average mileage on MPSC = 7000x (80/220) = 2545

The fronts should be double that (5090).

Not sure about the RS price. I know my dealer had only 3 allocations and sold out immedialtely. Will ask.

The UAE is one of the cheapest places in the world to buy and operate a high-end sports car. Cheap gas (about 1.5 USD/Gal for premium), great roads, great track (FIA approved, Formula 1 grade). Insurance costs are quite high, though: about 7% of car value / year.

Again, completely in agreement with moots. (did I just type that?)

MPSCs are wasted on the street IMO, and the PS2s have near Rcomp feel for street use, feel very crisp and lively, and should last the good part of a year rather than requiring quarterly replacement.

I'm a Toyo fan, and shaved they seem to equal the MPSCs. They also withstand heat cycles better than MPSCs and you can run 18's on BBS racing wheels to fit over PCCBs (according to prior posts on the subject).

But, if you want a no fuss solution of combined street/track driving on one set of shoes, the N spec MPSCs may provide a nice solution *if* they can withstand the heat cycling of inherent in street driving. I'm concerned about this since it gets friggen hot here in mexico. If they don't hold up to heat cycling for normal summer street use, then your track outings will be underwhelming.

Cups are a waste of time on the street unless you're driving to the track. 2k max miles. Get the ps2's.
