So basically anyone buying the car at MSRP (me included) will be very lucky.
WOW, someone thinks I am right. Got off to a bad start on this RS thing. I am a MSRP buyer also. I said in my first posts that I want my car and I have had a deposit down for over 18 months, however everyone has a price. When I said that I was a TROLL> As I have said this RS thing has prople tweeking.

depreciation never takes into account the extra dummies paid to get one fast. the first ford gt for sale sold for 500,000. several after that went for 100,000 over MSRP.
all are now in the 150,000 US range. in canada the first few ford Gt's sold for 250,000 cdn. now they are at MSRP or less and there are a few around ( MSRP is 197,000 cdn
it will depreciate. people like me ( in canada like you RR) are already passing up an allocation for MSRP. that doesnt seem good for resale. if i was offered it that means someone passed it up before me. i have pull at the dealer but not a ton of pull.
enjoy the car but dont get too excited about resale value.
P.S a 996 GT3 in nice shape with 15,000kms just sold in canada for $85,000 cdn. ever think you would see that?? i traded my GT3 to the dealer in july 05 for $125,000 cdn with 8000 kms on it, they retailed it the next day for $135,000!!

They can't give the Ford GT's away at dealer cost now.
If you pay over MSRP for this car you will loose that amount plus the dealer markup in the first 6 months.
If we just wait, all that want one will get it before summer.
This car is "cool" but it's no super car.
The one's that must have it will pay over and find out that it rides to hard, makes too much noise and has no room in back.
They will trade or sell it off for the next "Cool" car and move on.
When they do we will buy them at a reduced price, track them and laugh at those that paid big bucks over sticker.
And Jim, we will all be laughing at you as you buy all the crap your dealer tells you is "Hot" and you pimp your ride.
They will help you spend your money and suck you dry because it is obvious that you are an "Easy Target"
I would love to be there when you track your "Super Car" can't wait to see the R-6's and Hooser's in action.

Get out the video camera because it's not a question of if the carnage will happen - it's when. And it will not take much time.

This is good news for buyers.

I'm leaning more and more to picking up a used 996 GT3 rather than trade up to the 997.

Major depreciation has already happened.

Maybe, maybe not...the '94 964 3.6 Turbo is significant in that it's the last air-cooled 2WD Turbo, and last single turbo 911. Great as it is, it's doubtful that the 997GT3RS will be a landmark 911, and production numbers will probably be higher.

Prices of RS America cars have seem to stabalize and even go up in value from a couple years ago. My 1994 just went for $39,500, with 62,000 miles. I bought it 8 years earlier for $35,500. The first year Boxters came out they went for over sticker for about a year, and kept their value well, even though nobody suspects them to be collectible. My 2 cents prediction for the GT3 RS is that it would hold its value very well for a couple of years, and then go down smartly, only to stabilize around year 12, and climb up from there to original MSRP in year 20, and maybe double or tripple again by year 30. If I am wrong I'll be happy to buy you all a beer - I'll be 80 then. If I am right but have sold the car before - feel free to shoot me.
