Question Roll bar question

On 6speedonline someone is test installing a 997 GT3RS roll bar into a 997 GT3. They are going to post when it is done with pictures.
I have a question. Can the dealer install a porsche roll bar into the GT3 usually or should I look for a high end performance facility around the Tampa area? What has been your experience?
Thanks

In my 996 Turbo S the dealer techs installed the Tequip rollbar, Euro GT3 seats, harnesses and fire extinguisher. They did a great job even though it's a bitch to install that rollbar in a 996 with a sunroof. But quality of workmanship of course will vary from shop to shop.

I wouldn't let any dealer around here touch it. Custom fabrication and thought needed to install. Neither is a dealers strong suite. I installed a couple including Cosmos here, They need to be done right, and it takes a little time....

I doubt the 997 GT3 RS bar will fit the sunroof-equipped 997 GT3. Just my guess. From what I remember, there are actually two different tequipment bars, one for sunroof, one for non-sunroof.

That said, the bar install isn't a huge deal: remove both front seats and negotiate carefully. Tensioning straps help. I'd trust Suncoast in Sarasota to do the work if you'd prefer a dealer. I don't have personal experience with the race shops up there, but I'm told that Dave White Racing does good work.

Isn't; the bars + bare-skull = death? Especially the side impact.

That bar is behind the seat. If the front section is in then the head is at high risk. Padding will help some.

Question Quick question.

Then why are some concern about the Sunroof clearance with the bar?

sorry no dig intended. For those who might be offended I will rephrase " to accomadate the materials required to provide one with the sun roof feature"

OR

To accomadate the sunroof mechanism.

But I must admit that I kind of like the "all the **** up there"
