Default Am I a Poseur?

I really want a GT3 but will never track it. I love the looks and performance. Demographically, I fit the turbo more but don't like the styling, turbo lag and it's more of a GT luxo supercar (and my wife already drives the MB SL 550 which is not the same but closer to the turbo than the GT3). Not crazy about the GT3 rear wing but everything else is perfect. I can afford it so that's not a problem- my E60 M5 would still be my daily driver and the Rover my SUV for the dogs, etc. Ferrari's are too flashy for my conservative tastes. I don't want to be the old gray hair guy trying too hard to look young and hip but, damn- that GT3 has got to be the most exciting sports car to drive for a true Porschephile...

Go for it, who knows you might even be tempted to go to the track once you have it!

You really want it? Go get one and have fun. Someone once said life's too short for what others may think...

Not at all...it's a street car. A poseur would put a roll cage and harnesses in it with no intention of going to the track.

Go for the GT3, you won't regret.

Once you have it, we might convince you to try it at the track...you won't regret.

You will want to track it at some point. The GT3 is fine as a street car but at least for me, going down the freeway @ 70-75 and 3,000rpm is boring. The only way to get the real enjoyment is on a track.

If you drive the GT3 on the DOT roads to half of its potential you will end up in jail :-) 82mph in second gear.

Carcam - why are you asking. You know the answer. Besides if you want to do the silver hair chick magnet thing, buy a 430 like Colm and I did.

You guys crack me up! I've done a couple DE's and am signed up for the M school- maybe I'll graduate to the PDE. Thanks for the replies. The GT3 is due in a couple weeks.

Exactly. GT3 is a street can and a comfortable one.
Personally, my intention is to buy a GT3 (or 996 GT2) and use it 99% as a "daily driver" (with maybe occasional track day) and keep tracking my 993.

Bob,

I may be fickle about my cars, but I'm not fickle about my women (33 years and counting)

Of course, she also indulges my cars!
