Before ordering the new GT3 seats it may not be a bad idea to sit and "test drive" in them...if that's at all possible. Don't know how they compare with the "old" Euro GT3 seats, but I find the latter to be almost perfect in terms of comfort, rollbar/harness setup, visibility, etc.
Hate to see friends here shelling out $7k plus just to find out that the "new" seats are not all they're made out to be. Cheers!

If they seats are the same size as the Carrera GT seats they are pretty pinched for us big guys (6'4 280).
Does anyone have any information on either the sparco S light cf(http://www.sparcousa.com/pseats_comp.asp?id=191) or the Recaro Prolif SPG XL ( http://www.recaro.com/index.php?id=2003®ion=3&L=2)?

The Recaro 996 GT3 Race seats fit all the 987/997. You will get the airbag light error, that would happen with the CGT style seats anyway. Each 996 GT3 Recaro seat weighs 28 lbs on leather and 26 lbs on fabric. The more expensive 996 GT3 seat in Carbon fibre ($2,500 each) weighs 26 lbs on leather and 24 lbs on fabric.
The new CGT style seat just saves 2 lbs from the previous 996 CF seat, but it saves 6 lbs from the popular plastic composite/leather version (12 lbs per pair at a hefty cost).
PCCB save 37 lbs on the 997 GT3 and 42 lbs on the 996 GT3. You can also get the 997 GT3/GT3RS without PCCB and swap the PCCB rotors from your old car if you had them.
Euro 996 GT3 Seats + 996 GT3 PCCB save as much as CGT Seats and 997 GT3 PCCB, but you keep $16k in your pocket if you already have the old parts.

Assuming we use the 996 GT3 seats (which I love) what can we do about the airbags which are in the regular GT3 997 seats?

the airbag or the airbag light warning?
the bag is in the seat, you can't do much with it.

i guess bob means what to do to avoid the airbag warning light by swapping 996 gt3 euro seats ina 997 gt3. bob if that is your question you can get your dealer turn the warning light off. i had to sign a waiver to do that.

I've lived with my airbag light for a long time. My car has no side airbags. I've not confirmed, but some people have mentioned about the dealers being able to erase the light, as well as a waiver to be signed. Somebody in the 997 forum did a resistor thing with the stock seat sensor, that solutions makes sense.
Personally, I don't care about the warning light. I have that one and the windshield fluid. If you look ahead, you won't notice.

997 GT3/GT3 RS:
PCCB: F:380mm/R:350mm
Metal: F:350mm/R:350mm
996 GT3/GT3 RS:
PCCB: F:350mm/R:350mm
Metal: F:350mm/R:330mm
As long as you can lock the tires under heavy braking, lap after lap, without overheating the brakes, the car has enough brakes.
This is not the case with the newer 911s, because they're heavy cars (3100+ lbs).
Reducing weight on these cars, helps to extend the brakes life, and increases the fade resistance.
