Default Pictures of the carbon Euro GT3 RS seats

Saw these Euro GT3 RS seats at the SEMA show's Recaro booth.

The Recaro rep said they are the lightest OEM seat they have made to date. He quoted a weight and I forgot it.

They are real, autoclaved carbon fiber seats.

This is what will NOT be in the American RS- they are only for other countries.

Sad.

I checked the price of CGT seats which are similar, maybe the same, with different tracks.

The quote was around $7000 for a single CGT seat from Porsche.

I asked the Recaro rep if the seat pictured could be as much as $7000 and he said he had no idea what Porsche would charge, but that Recaro suggests a retail price for their carbon fiber pro race seats of around $4000.,,,and then he said "you guess what a Porsche logo costs extra".

The usual SEMA players I figured didn't want their wives to know where they were.

Argh, same here!

Let's put a little post next year about SEMA so we can meet half way through it and discuss what interesting things we've seen.

You want to see really lightweight and really expensive?
I had it in my ex-factory Turbo Cup for a while, and it weighs 1950 grams, that is 4lbs 5oz.

I just ordered my GT3 and am thinking about changing to the carbon seats. Is there going to be a big problem if the original seats are heated like wires that would be cut, etc?

I think the bigger issue is the airbags that are in the US seats. I suppose the airbag light will light up on the dash until somebody builds a shunt to trick it.

I thought I read somewhere that the same thing used for the child seat air bag deactivator can be used on this. Not 100% sure thought.

The connections have been usually by plugs and the disconnects can be made easily.

I would look to see how Porsche does the airbag deletion in Europe and try to do that.

It may be a software or other simple change. For example in my 964 chassis Porsche makes a simple plug that bypasses the airbags.

dealer can deactivate the airbag light but you would need to sign a waiver. this is what i did in my 997s with 996gt3 euro seats.

Correct. Deactivating/bypass is now done in S/W via PIWIS rather than H/W.
I would imagine that Gert could supply the seats to his US customers.
