Will the 997 GT3 RS achieve "Iconic" status as
the years go by as the original ' 70 's models have? what do you guys think? and if so; is it a car that should be sequestered or enjoyed as indicated?
I, for one, will drive the sh*t out of it !

The degraded North America specification 1993-1994 Porsche 964 RS America was a good machine and its resale value has been solid.
Anybody who really gets into these Porsche RS models will always compare them to the Rest of World specification versions.

Drive it like you stole...and as far as investments/value PM me I'm financial advisor for Merrill Lynch; I've got better things to invest in.

It should do better than the 964 RS America. The 964 RS America carries a hefty premium over the standard 964 C2, and there were not that many differences for the US versions. The 964 RSA had as much power as a base 911 back in the day.
The 997 RSA, might be missing the Lexan windows, rollbar and seats, but once those bolt-on parts are installed, you get the real RS.
I might buy a 997 RSA from someone that returns the car after a week driving it and not tolerating the nasty sound coming from the transmission at idle.

If the individual parts that differentiate the 996 GT3-RS from the 996 GT3 are the same parts that differentiate the 997GT3-RS from the 997 GT3 then you have another 964-RSA. Just how valuable was the 1972-73 911RS before Jim Newton decided to completely dismantle his and replace every nut & bolt? The stock GT3 is the 1970's RS...

I'm with NJ-GT. I do believe that the RS will initially depreciate just like all Porsches as the Posers get tired of the harsh noisey ride. I will wait until I get feedback about PASM from the track Guru's on handling before I decide.
