Getting a 997 GT3 in 2006 will be as difficult as getting a 996 GT3 in 2003. Getting the 997 in 2007 will be much easier, and even easier when the RS is released for NA for not too much more money.
Don't drive yourself crazy, wait after the winter and you might be able to pick up one from the showroom.
By the way, save the adjustable drop links, solid bushings and monoball plates, as they're compatible with the 997.

As far as I know, they wont sell you a US car brand new - this was the word when I wanted to purchase some new Cayennes. They risk their dealer franchise to do so. And even if they didn't, it's quite a bit of hassle to sell them to us, and something hot like a GT3 will be so easy to sell in the US that I highly doubt that they will even consider it.
