Gallardo vs 997 GT3

Hi,

The G cars are getting down in price with the new 07 cars due next month.

Does this interest anyone? How do you think it would compare to the GT3 on the track?

G - no sunroof.

GT3- Si sunroof.

I thought stock gallardos are pigs on the track? Tough choice. And that stupid sunroof thing won't really concern to the gallardo. Even if it doesn't have a sunroof, it's nowhere near as good a track car as the GT3.

Not comparable - better comparo is a 997TT and a GallARDO

Gallardo is 4WD.No fun.

Sunroofs aside, I think the 997 GT3 will demolish a Gallardo on the track.

I dunno- 996 GT3 RS and Gallardo (04) both lapped Hockenheim in 1:11.8.

That is with the GT3 on corsa system tires and the Gallardo on P Zero Rossos.

The updated 520 hp Gallardo with shorter gearing is supposedly much quicker. With equal tires I would venture to say the latest Gallardo is at least equal to a 997 GT3.

Maybe you could say the Gallardo is abit less involving, but it definitely isn't slow around a track...

Well I can't find the vid, but I used to have a link to a neat little showing of a Gallardo in the hands of a talented driver demolishing a tight auto-x couse. I expected that it would be a pig but the driver knew how to make it dance.

That said: personally, I would choose the 997 GT3 over any Lamborghini - based on proven Porsche quality and gotta-experience-it-to-believe-it Porsche soul.

The new '06 gallardos are much better than the older ones. Very durable on the track and pretty fast as well. It all boils down to what you want out of a car. The Gallardo's a V10 with all-wheel drive and an Italian suit. The GT3, even with a sunroof, is as close as you can get to a cupcar without buying one.

a slob or a blob?

AVoyvoda 10-07-2006 04:03 PM

The Gallardo SE with egear (520hp), manages 100-200 kph in 10.1 secs, as compared to the 997 GT3 RS 9.1 secs. In addition, the Gallardo is heavier at 1,640 kgs vis 1,420 kgs. No contest. The GT3 RS should beat the Gallardo around the track any day of the week. The twistier, the better. The standard GT3 should also have an edge, albeit not as large.

IMO the Gallardo is rather lame for an exotic. Power aside visually it's not impressive. I'd prefer a AMV8 over the Lambo. BUT I'd prefer the 997GT3, heck 996GT3.

I'll side with the reliabilty factor.......
:bigbye:

Lamborghini - subset of Volkswagen Audi Group.

Now VAG is ~20% owned by Porsche....

Ergo Porsche owns a chunk of Lambo

My what a tangled web...Ferdinand Piech weaves..

TT Gasman 10-16-2006 12:45 PM

A 997TT will eat the Gallardo alive! LOL:)
