My dealer called and said he needed a 5k deposit. I asked him where am I on the list and he replied in the top 5. I was in the #2 spot 6 months ago. I replied you are not going to get 5+ RS' and he said that's news to me.
So I think he is going to keep my 5k for a year and I will never get the car. What do you guys think?

Very Ferrari like. I was very surprised how tough Porsche are being with allocations for this car.
>> grussell - Realistically if you haven't received a confirmed order by now you not going to get one :-( I wouldn't be parting with my 5k.

My dealer told me there are now about 300 dealers.
both local dealers told me that quite a few dealers will not even get 1 RS.
I am on the list for an RS at 2 dealers and may not get one at all.

Porsche AG played this 'exclusive' game with the 996 GT3 RS then changed their story and built a lot more units. Just ask the European Rennlisters.
After the initial "wow" is over I think they will build all they can based on real retail customer orders, not dealer speculation orders. They are in business to sell cars and make large profits. Profit, profit, profit...
997 Turbo is hot currently and they have a waiting list, more game playing to keep that model in demand and prices up.
