997 GT3 - US version
#16
The MK11 U.S. version of the GT3, with no sunroof, even as an option, no eletronic driving aids except ABS, and a pure Porsche focus will go down in Porsche history as the 73RS of our day. We will only have to wait to fully understand this.

TPMS, unless it's different in GT3, it's a POS. you cannot set the desire pressure and TPMS only monitors factory pressure, which means when you drive back from the track, your pressure will be too low as the tire cools down from track hot pressure. the f'g warning lite cannot be killed offo. i got it on my gayman.
i figured we won't be getting CGT seats or any race seats for that matter. i guess we wont be getting plastic quarter window or rear glass either then.
sunroof??? hum..... i have a feeling i need to go buy back my old 996gt3.

Had sunroof on my stock 996 and never used it and if I did open it would creak like crazy. If the RS would come to the US how much would that run over the reg 997 GT3 pricewise? Mike

Not only do sunroofs steal precious headroom for tall folks, but the weight is in exactly the wrong place.
No CGT or CGT-like seats also sucks. Guess the only "factory" route is the 996 GT3 seats and airbag light disable as mentioned in another post.

How has Porsche "screwed" up? Last time they had a hard time selling GT3's here b/c a lot of people on this forum were bitching and complaining that the suspension was to stiff, the car was too low, etc etc etc and ended up returning them for 997S's.
So to me this makes perfect sense for all the cry babies.
Remember the people on this forum only make up about maybe 1% of Porsche's target - we'd probably be more on the extreme end. So for all of you complaining, the RS should be the car for you anyways.
If Porsche built cars for the people on this forum (which they were doing BEFORE the 996 AND almost went broke doing so) they wouldn't exist anymore.
To me this is good news. If they made the GT3 "hardcore" it wouldnt make sense to also offer another "hardcore" version like the RS especially in the "powder-puff" NA market. So the fact that the GT3 is a little "soft" it gives more life to the RS being available in NA now.

the car will be a hardcore car. No offense to anyone but i seriously doubt that many of the people ordering one will ever drive the the car to its potential...simular to the 996 GT3 owners. they may drive them hard as to their abilities but not to the cars abilities.
but i do hate the idea of a sunroof just because of headroom height for helmets.
i really dont like the idea of 19" wheels wondering how long it will be for the slick manufacturers to catch up to the sizing...

I think there is more room not less with the sunroof over the driver. I ordered seats 10mm shorter with the GT3 since the headliner is flat on the GT3. The sun roof is inset so it will have room to slide within the liner as it moves back.

Sure sunroof is inset but the roof itself is quite a bit thicker (so that there is room for the sunroof to slide in) so in the end, you have less head room.
