In earlier posts I thought we were talking a US Spec 997 GT3 as a 2007 model arriving in the US in the Fall of 2006 (November).

The factory normally does their switch over in August.

I have no news on a US / Canada 997 GT3 RS.

The MSRP for the base GT3 is expected ~ $105K which I think is a reasonable expectation given the new 997TT's base sticker is 122K and change.

With respect to a GT3 RS...I've searched high and low amongst the dealer community and haven't found any who would commit knowledge of it, let alone take a deposit against a firm order.

PM me if you wish to share more info on the RS. Thanks...
I guess it depends on who you talk to at the dealerships as well as the size of the dealership, plus it's relationship with PAG & rep. I haven't been dealing with the normal sales crew who are often the last to know that something is in the pipeline. I live in a similar retail world, I know when the Sony PS3 will be launched, what games will also be available at launch etc etc, but ask someone at the local store and they wouldn't have a clue except that it's coming soon along with all the other mis-information that they pick up along the way.

Did you let Spenser from Farbacher install the 6hr test REVO software on your car?
I saw the NNJR event in Porschephorus,. I will check my schedule. I would like to do a PCA event this year. I'm staying local though...ie Limerock which is 1:20 from me. I can't afford the trailer this year (blew it on camera equip) so probably no watkin's Glen for me....over 4hrs each way.

Never got the car chipped that day. I was pretty chipped from Spencer's 57second lap rides and pretty much forgot about it. I still need them to install my cup rear toe arms/metal bushings and my rear monoball kit. I don'y think I will get it done before my first event, but perhaps by the next...

In Europe the 996 GT3 RS was priced 15% higher than the 996 GT3.

I just hope they build the right car. No PASM, No TC, 18" wheels, CF hood, 997TT Aluminum doors, thinner glass, full alcantara interior, CGT seats, no radio, no A/C, wide body, 380mm PCCB, CF spoiler. 2950 lbs with all these changes. The car will need a boost in power to be able to keep up with the 997TT, C6 Z06, F430, Ford GT, Viper GTS.

OT: I just sent my application for Lime Rock 4/14-4/15 (NNJR-PCA). Expect a large number of GT3s all together (6 and counting).

o

I heard a similar number, I guess they know this number way ahead of time as they have to buy these cars from PAG, they also have to factor in this inventory to its budgets and sales plans.

Don't you hate the dealerships that tell you that you're #1. I know that if Jerry Seinfeld walked into this dealership tomorrow that I'd be number 2 instantly... Jerry if your reading this then, as long as I can take your Carrera GT out for the day, then I'll be okay with #2....

Does PAG have a best guest program? I know that they sent Carrera GT freebies out to a select few people, wonder if they would do it for the RS waiters?

I'd heard that the RS will be a hardcore enthusiasts car. Didn't the 964 RS have a thinner glass, was it thinner on the RSA as well? I should pull out my 964 bible by Adrian and take a look.

Did you sign up for Pocono as well?

John Groom racing just opened up his shop to doing DE and race setups, might be worth a visit.

The real 964 RS did have thinner glass. The RS America shared basically nothing in common with the RS, but was really just a glorified C2 (no seem welding, no alum hood, no thin glass, no different ecu, etc., etc.).

Healyg,

I think you are right on the button with the the GT3RS pre-orders being sent to PCNA or Porcshe AG.
When I was placed on the list for the 997GT3 my sales rep just wrote up a standard sales order by hand much like what he did when I ordered my 996GT3.
When I switched my order to a GT3RS the sales manager and the finance manager both got involved and this time the order was typed, i's dotted t's crossed. Seemed to be much more of a bigger deal. So I think for sure it is coming to the NA.

It is my understanding that the RS will be available in special colours such as signal orange, lime green, gulf blue, some variant of silver and yellow**, but I haven't heard that it will have a similar paint scheme to the 996 GT3 RS, any one hear different.

If the color is available I thnk I'd go for the gulf blue. It's a very cool & different color, although the orange with black wheels would look really mean.
