Are these a direct fit? Old airbag fits in new wheel too?

had shop do it. Don’t think he did any computer work. Just swapped. Did it on my 997.1gt3 too. Smaller diameter is a game changer

That’s his eBay store. Nice German man.
I’ve bought two from him.

what about the smaller diameter do you like… curious if seat position or arm length etc have any impact on how comfy that is for you… seems like one of those things I don’t know if I don’t try it

for instance race cars always have smaller steering wheels. Almost feels like changing steering ratios. Think of a bus or suv with a big *** steering wheel. Feels lazy. Momo race wheel typically 350mm some smaller ones. Oem 997gt3 wheel about 380mm. 991.2gt3 wheel 360mm. Also I just love the grip on it too. Feels good in the hand.

Agree - 991.2 GT wheel is such an upgrade from a feel and aesthetic perspective. Modernized the interior instantly. And, smaller diameter is much better matched to steering ratio of the car vs OEM bus-like wheel.
notes: GT wheels from turbo, GT3, Macan, etc all
fit, and they are modular so you can swap out inner spoke trim, remove multi function, change from PDK to manual, etc. Often, easier and cheaper to find PDK wheel, remove shifters, and swap rear trim.

Dan - I haven't done the smaller diameter wheel yet, but I'm 6'5". Depending on the shoes I'm wearing, your knees get pretty close to the steering wheel. This smaller diameter wheel should help with that.

hmm yea usually I stick to OEM 997 everything ( with 4.0 bits exception) to keep myself from wanting something it’s not, but in this case I’m 6’3” and I have a hard time with heal toe because my knee hits when I try and brake and then turn out to blip. I broke my right ankle jet skiing on the 4th and havn’t been able to attempt it safely yet…

The 997.2 cars with the 4.0 (Sport Design) wheel I think may even be a bit larger of a diameter than the 997.1 GT3 sport steering wheel although I haven't measured. I think that because I had a 997.2 C2S with that wheel and also a friend had that wheel in his 997.2 Turbo and I had even less room. For me it's a big deal to get more room by the steering wheel.
I will just need to have some definitive answers/proof that the airbag would still work in the case of an accident. I'd have to imagine it would since no codes came up for Sam, it would be fine and function. I just get real sketched out with any sort of safety items.
