Rich, all I can say is I'm 18 years into my ownership (and 156K miles) of your predecessor and I still feel exactly the same as the day I bought it. Your 997 is even a better example of the GT3 line (in my opinion), so I completely get what you are experiencing. Don't expect it to wear off.

I remembered when I first drove this car, I was literally going 10 mph in the parking lot and I couldn't believe how much I could feel in this car. It was truly amazing
Same, driving away from the delivery truck I knew this was a forever generation…hard to explain/describe.

Congratulations on your beautiful car! Your comments about it resonate with me. I've had mine since 2007 but I still get a big grin to this day whenever I drive the car.
I even grinned reading your comments!

Streets can be fun, Big Willow and Buttonwillow are more funner
You really want those 2nd to 3rd to 4th gear pulls and smashing on the brakes, going down to 2nd. The rowing (aka losing a car length per shift to PDK) is "the" driving experience. This car has long legs to stretch and streets/autoX is limiting the amount of stretch.
I typically participate in Audi club events and then splash in a SpeedVenture or other companies. Either way sounds like you're enjoying the car as it should be enjoyed.

Enjoy the car! Great write up sharing your journey. I own a 993 (with LWFW) myself, along with the GT3 so I echo a lot of your same thoughts. The 993 is my cruiser that I take out on a backroad for a spirited drive, while the 997.1 GT3 is my canyon car & track car (with my 991 being my daily). Each serves my purposes for them exactly.
Now begins the modding of the GT3! I recommend having the lines pinned and adding a Sharkwerks exhaust to make it sound right. The diff may also need doing.
When I got mine I did a Guard LSD, Sharkwerks exhaust, RSS rear links, RSS front & rear toe/bump kits, RSS engine mounts, radiator guards, Sharkwerks power kit, and the lightweight clutch and flywheel from the RS 4.0. Completely upgraded the car and made it an animal.

I drove my first 997.1 as a student back in 2010. Only drove it about 10 minutes to dinner, but I never forgot how driving the car made me feel; it was incredible. I recently picked up a 997.1 CS that is visually nearly identical to the one I drove back in the day, and let me tell you, the magic absolutely does not wear off. Congrats again!

Hi Rich, have you meet up with the SGVBC club and done the Friday am run up to Newcombs. It's a fun drive as there are tons of flat sixes making all kinds of noise through that canyon. Celebs are a regular occurrence and a full Newcombs parking lot is a regular occurrence. They meet Friday's at 8:00AM in the parking lot, upper deck, across the street from Target and that Shell gas station. I know it's a far drive from your place but after the destination, you could just continue and drive home.
I finally went to Newcomb’s Ranch this morning. It was nice being around so many gung-ho car enthusiasts, and it was awesome to see so many Porsches there. Terrific experience!
Here are some pics:
Newcomb’s Ranch: The Mecca of Friday morning fun runs in SoCal!
Nice to see Magnus Walker hanging around my car for a bit this morning. Matt Farah also showed up right before I left. Actor, Joseph Gatt, was also there.
The locals said it was a very solid turnout this morning.
One of my favorite cars from this morning. 👍
