Anyone looking for a track car?

I thought salvage was for cars that the insurance did not way to pay to repair. How/why would a pre-loss value determine whether something could not be rebuilt (for destruction)? Wouldn't that be salvage?

The terms are probably more of a filter for the insurance company to best determine what to do. My guess is a car like that 997 labeled 'Destruction' probably ends up at a dismantler, unless someone intervenes.

I sort of assumed that with an expensive rare car, it might find its way to the middle east, and have its title washed.

It sold for close to $100k including fees at Copart.
Not much info on that for sale listing. I do remember the buyer was in Texas though. So probably legit. Houston is a huge port. So could be sold overseas and the Certificate of Destruction wouldn’t be an issue.

My initial response was “185k for a flood/total loss car?”
His response “it actually wasn't flood there was a claim for it but the vehicle had no damage we buy cars like this all the time with 0 damage and allows us to sell it way cheaper than the competition with clean titles”

So he definitely didn’t mention that it can’t be titled or registered in the US. It was flooded, Copart had the water line marked in their pics. I agree that the car is probably fine. However,it’s not fine to sell without full disclosure.

Definitely not forthcoming and I agree.

It is mildly terrifying that this car can be back on market with such blatant non-disclosure.

have to wonder if this dealer even knows this car can't be re-titled for road use in the U.S.

Title washing. Different states have different rules and it’ll be back out there or sold overseas.

I would imagine the dealer is selling it with a ‘washed’ title. Bc I couldn’t see
how a dealer can sell a destruction only titled car. Maybe someone here with higher friends can get them reported?
