Where did you come up with that number? I have referenced 1242 in multiple locations including Total 911 magazine. I have seen that numbers have disagreed for 997.2 GT3/RS production as well, but I'm always curious where differing numbers come from. Thanks!

I would say that they are evenly matched with regard to turn-in with the caveat that the 997.2 RS has the flares and slightly wider tires so probably can generate a bit more lateral grip upon turn-in, but the 997.2 GT2 RS would likely turn in similarly to the 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0. I hear you on the Cup 1s and do want to get my own RS on some fresh Cup 2s or possibly PS5S if they are available in my needed size.
I own a 997 GT2 with stock power and stock suspension. My other Porsche is a 997.2 GT3 with a 4.2L engine build and extensive suspension upgrades (triple-adjustable JRZs, billet arms, links, monoballs). The question of which one I love more has come up a few times. The answer is the GT3.
I’ve owned the GT3 for 8 years. In that time, I’ve been able to live out a bit of a Gran Turismo fantasy by continually modifying the car and playing with it on canyon roads and trackdays. I’m really happy with how the car has evolved. The big motor is very torquey and sounds glorious breathing through long-tube headers and 200-cell cats. Even though spring rates (600lb/in f, 900lb/in r) are significantly higher than stock, it retains a nicely compliant ride while feeling very responsive and confidence inspiring to toss into corners. When I wake up early to go on a canyon drive, I grab the keys to this GT3. Trackday? The GT3.
While the GT3 delivers the higher highs, the GT2 provides more days of driving enjoyment in a year. The GT2 is the more versatile car. It’s quiet and comfortable enough to be a supremely competent grand tourer with performance that’s easily accessible. At freeway speed, I rarely need to shift out of 6th gear to get around slower traffic. But working the stick and experiencing 20psi of boost through the gears is the experience of transforming from Dr. Jekyll to Mr. Hyde. My GT2 doesn’t even have a tune but feels at least as quick as any modern Porsche with a manual transmission. Is it more accelerative than my GT3 4.2? I think it is.
Took the photo this morning. The 997 GT2 is such a beautiful car.
