Front coilover spring noise when turning

Front coilover spring noise when turning
Hello all,
My relatively new-to-me 997.1 GT3 has been making a boing noise when I turn the steering wheel when the suspension is loaded. I took a look at it today with someone else turning the steering back and forth while I looked at the front suspension. It’s clearly being caused by the stock front coilover springs. When the steering knuckle turns, the strut together with the bottom spring perch rotate. The bottom of the spring then twists while the top of the spring momentarily stays stationary. At a certain point the tension in the spring overcomes the friction between the top of the coil spring and the upper spring mount and them all of tension is released causing a BOING noise that is easily audible in the car at low speeds. I’m not sure why there wouldn’t be a thrust bearing at the top of the springs to allow them to easily rotate against the upper mount, but it doesn’t seem to be the case? Anyone know a fix for this? I assume this isn’t normal? Should there be a lubricant sprayed in there at the top of the spring? My car is very low mileage but stock. Thanks for any suggestions.

Stock suspension? I don’t recall if fronts have helpers or not, but you can install Torrington bearings like they do on aftermarket shocks…

I am the original poster. I'm not sure how my browser logged me in as EVO8LTW. That is the first username I used on here years before I even owned a Porsche. Anyhow, does anyone else have this noise? The noise doesn't bother me if it's normal. But it seems like binding is a bad thing that could lead to premature wear on the upper mount. I read somewhere else just now that this is called "spring bind" and can be caused by excessive spring preload on the coilover. I don't think my car is particularly high in ride height, but maybe it is for a GT3. I haven't touched it.
