Default Need part # please - fuel sending unit >>

Sometimes called the fuel level sensor. It's a bit confusing out there as I see part # 997-620-831-03 or sometimes #997-620-833-01. There's very little info on the GT3 forum about replacement. I have had a P0461 Fuel level sensor code pop since I've owned the car and an indy shop near me "replaced" the unit some years ago, but the code has never gone away nor have the inconsistent tank readings. Life got in the way, but now I would like to do this myself so I know it gets done with the correct part. If someone could verify the part # that would be awesome.

This is for a 2007 997.1 GT3

I also probably need the sealing ring (maybe 997-201-733-00?)

Thank you!

I looked through PETKA and this seems to be it. Original part number ended on 02, seems to be superseded by the one ending in 03:

*Tank calibration is necessary after replacement of the fuel tank, fuel-level sensor or instrument

cluster. Calibrate the fuel-level sensor system
You will need Piwis to calibrate-

Yes, maybe that first indy shop never calibrated the unit and it never worked properly. Maybe try to calibrate first before going out and buying another one.

Thank you for the info. Makes sense that they may have not calibrated - anyone have any good shops they can recommend in the MA area?

From what I see, removing the entire sensor looks like a nightmare and you'd have to get this special tool:

Getting your own Piwis III has never been so affordable, I recommend everyone get their own(well, almost everyone)
If you already have a laptop, it's so cheap now, forget all the Launch X431s and all the other crap.
Then, here's the calibration method:
