Essentially the 60th anniversary attempt at recreating the 997, lol they got the weight down to 3060lbs, ditched the rear steer, put in the GT3RS motor in the narrow body with some carbon fiber body parts.

It looks cool but still too big for me. 997 is the perfect size IMO.

More limited production collector cars what will become garage art and maybe driven to C&C.

The basic problem here is that the ginormous 992 body and chassis must be used as the foundation no matter what. Have to keep throwing more and more carbon at it to get weight down.

I will never own or probably even drive one so like to adhere to the Socrates’ quote of, “The secret of happiness is not found in seeking more, but developing the capacity to enjoy less.

Who even cares about that car. Just like who even cared about that 911R. The commercial, however was nice.

I find it funny that they call it an "Enthusiast" car,... yet no enthusiast will ever get the chance to buy one. & that's even if they were standing there with $400k in their hot little hands. As much as Porsche regrets that they had to develop the 918 VIP program to sell those cars {back when they were taking those orders},... they will STILL offer all the ST allocations to those owners,... most of which, I care to guess, are collectors,... or at a minimum have so many cars to spread miles across, that these ST's will see very little street enjoyment.

As RAudi said,... after the initial hullaboloo is over,... snooze....

Took my RS out for a spin today, first time in a while. While out driving, it dawned on me that Porsche is getting as close to the 997 RS as possible with the new S/T. It's the closest thing Porsche has made to this formula since they stopped making the 997's.

So which would you want? I suspect with the aero enhancements on the 992, the downforce is probably similar to that created by the 997.2RS, even without the wing. Surely the new front suspension would be an improvement, though I kind of enjoy the busy front end. The size of the 992 will always be huge compared to the 997. Electric steering, worse pad compounds, slightly heavier, and OPF muffled sounds. Then again, the 4.0 motor is a really sweet motor and I can't even imagine how fast it will change speed with a LWFW and ITBs. Should be an interesting car. Too bad I'll never have a chance to see for myself which one is preferred.

I'm betting there is more to the magic of the S/T than the specs indicate so far. I look forward to some real world reviews.

Edit: one more thought...at least in the US, the current 997RS market is priced pretty close to the new S/T MSRP. I realize this is likely a coincidence, but interesting nonetheless.

And with that it raises a question. How many of you folks with a .2RS would give it up for the ST? I'd give up my .1 for one but it's surely not worth what the .2RS cars are worth.

Since @FLT6SPD posted the analogy between the back end of the 991/992 to his paper shredder, I have had a hard time looking at the newer Porsches. I believe that I must own the same shredder.

lol, I do remember that. Since then I had a fling with a 991.2 and recently we picked up a 23 turbo s cab it is so comfortable and tremendous power. The best thing about PDK is the wife can drive when I've had one too many goose press's...

Taking the 3.9 RS to Pebble Beach for car week so that will be fun!
