So, I'm looking at buying something in the classifieds and reach out to the member whose only posts seem to be in the classifieds. He's been a member since 2004 so consensus would have it that he's a stand up member, and his account does show him as a paying member. So tar6day replied and said to send him money either via Venmo or cash app. Gave his Venmo and cash app handle and I went to check it out.

Member's location is Ohio....wait up, it's now showing Oklahoma today.

Price seems a bit too good to be true, no posts since 2016 except this one. While it's possible he found a Durametric laying around and didn't realize it's worth probably $100 more since he hasn't been on the forums lately, with all of the other things you brought up above, I'd stay away.

How does the Venmo purchase protection work? $100 under market is not a huge deal. I'd ask for his name, phone and email and it's easy enough to google

The best scam protection is you and your instincts. If it feels fishy it probably is, and from what you are showing it looks like a scam.

I my last DM to the seller was that I needed to use PayPal to send money.

I agree with that. Heck I’ve seen center deletes for $500 under market. 😆
