I ‘think’ that’s one of my disk, I was waiting to give details until I get them next week. But I have lots of photos…

This is a good one

What does the refurbishment cost for a set of four 997.2 PCCB discs?

Is that a wear ring I see by his hand. Other than that ring, they look to be ok.

Yea the wear rings are no longer applicable, they were used for visual indicators of carbon sluff from the original width. The process shaves off any burned carbon or pitted surface, so most refurbished disk will show wear indicators even if they didn't prior to being refurbished.

Basically (shave it, soak it in a chemical to break the bonds, soak/bond the new "spongy carbon disk" it in new carbon compound, bake in oven till crispy brown) and repeat until desired Caroteq readings.

So my refurbished disks are actually .1 mm thinner and 15% denser

So moving forward there is no way for me to tell if the refurb versions are 'toast' without a weighing (estimating) or a Carboteq and comparing to the readings ReDisk provided me.

The reason Surface Transforms are refurbish-able is that they do the same process but they start your disk out wider than OEM (that’s why they need spacers). So they advertise enough material to do the process 2-3 times, the OEM disks are prob one-shot deal. Hence why I’ll still track my other ones.

I'm not the original owner so I cant say for sure... but mileage doesn't seem to be an indicator of wear for PCCB since they can go 70k miles for street with no issues, more abuse/usage etc.

agreed - totally anecdotal - they could go for 100s of thousands of miles or simply thousands depending on use.

in any event - they now look "like new"

One of the advantages is, that discs have received an OXY coat, which prevents air from coming inside the core and also prevents "evaporating" carbon fibers. An oxy coat is put on the edges.
If anyone has any technical questions, I was thinking to make a video call / presentation and there you can asks me whatever you want to know.

Is anybody interested?

Thanks Maya
